1. Introduction

Welcome to FriendSift (“we”, “our”, “us”). The site is owned and operated by The Platinum-Williams Company Limited, registered in England and Wales (Company Number: 11920333) with a registered office at 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, England, W1W 5PF. VAT Registration Number: GB403433146. FriendSift is a photo-free, values-first introduction service designed to foster deep friendships. By accessing our site, you agree to these Terms.

2. Account Creation & Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old. We reserve the right to terminate accounts of suspected minors immediately.
  • We utilise a “Single Sign-On” process via Google or Apple for secure authentication.

3. Pricing, Payments & Refunds

  • We charge the localized commitment fee per person for each Handshake introduction. There are no subscription fees or upfront costs.
  • The Handshake Guarantee: Payments are processed securely via Stripe in two steps. When a Handshake request is sent, the sender authorizes the fee (the localized commitment fee) with a temporary card hold. The recipient then has 48 hours to accept and pay (the localized commitment fee). If they do, the sender's authorized payment is captured and both names and email addresses are revealed. If a Handshake request is declined or not responded to within that window, the sender's hold is released.
  • Refund Policy: Under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, you normally have a 14-day cooling-off period. However, by completing your Handshake payment you consent to the immediate delivery of the digital service: the name and email reveal. You acknowledge that once names and email addresses are delivered, you lose your right to cancel or request a refund for that specific transaction.

4. Photos, Chat & Contact Reveal

  • FriendSift does not use profile photos at any stage. Photos are not uploaded, displayed or revealed before or after a Handshake.
  • FriendSift does not provide on-site chat, direct messages, inbox messaging or group messaging.
  • After a mutual Handshake is completed, the only details revealed are each person's name and email address. Users then continue the conversation off-site by email and decide what happens next.

5. User Conduct & Assumption of Risk

  • FriendSift facilitates offline friendships. We do not conduct criminal background checks, identity verification, or vet users.
  • You are solely responsible for your interactions. Always exercise caution, meet in public places, and trust your instincts.
  • We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, abuse, solicitation, business networking, or using the platform for anything other than friendship.

6. User-Generated Content & AI Processing

  • By submitting answers to our questionnaire, you grant us a license to process your text using Artificial Intelligence (Gemini AI) to generate your “Sift Bio” and calculate match percentages.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, The Platinum-Williams Company Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the site or your offline interactions with other users.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
